Mar Azul Projects started with its Quality Management System in 2011, including from that moment on all the processes of each company department. Let’s learn a little more about Quality Management in Mar Azul Projects.
One of the first things we would like to share with you is the importance and value of a company being ISO certified since, as a first value, it ensures quality controls in all the services it offers. Similarly, productivity and efficiency in internal processes are increased by optimizing available resources, increasing the participation of people as the pillar of the organization, and eliminating both non-compliance and rework. Another important added value is being considered as a differentiator and a corporate identity with high standards, which opens the doors to new markets in the international arena, and —of course— allows for greater customer satisfaction.
Now a screenshot of what has been the whole process to reach this certification for which IGCCertificación Global is the entity in charge and responsible for issuing the certification and carrying out its follow-ups.
In 2011, Proyectos Mar Azul created its Quality Management System (QMS) with all its documents and processes for each area. In October 2012, the process for ISO 9001 certification began with an initial visit from the certifying body in which a review of the processes and documentation maintained by the QMS was carried out and in which they indicated recommendations to proceed with the execution of the Certification Audit. Once all the reviews were completed, the Certification Audit was confirmed, all the processes were verified and compliance was evidenced, which generated confidence and the achievement of Certification under the ISO 9001:2008 Standard.
This was just the first step. Subsequently, the first post-certification follow-up was carried out, where we obtained a Non-Conformity as a result of this audit on a super easy to handle issue, which generated a feeling of dissatisfaction. However, this was the main reason that achieved that all the following audits carried out by the certifying entity to our QMS showed zero (0) findings of non-compliance, because all the staff got involved and committed to the QMS, feeling really part of the company and adapting to all the changes that it required for its compliance in all activities.
This commitment of all the staff was very gratifying, since it demonstrated the effort and general commitment to achieve strengthening the QMS and keep it robust as required.
One of the main bases of this achievement and commitment by all the staff is the continuous support maintained by the Senior Management in Internal Audits and other follow-ups carried out hand in hand with those responsible for each process, providing the required resources and always transmitting the importance of compliance with all processes. Leading by example, a total commitment will be reached. Also including current innovations in technological tools while maintaining the compliance requested in each area.
Throughout the history of Mar Azul Projects, already certified as an ISO 9001 company, we have received nominations in the awards made by IGC to certified companies, such as:
Award to ISO 9001 certified companies in 2014, obtaining the following recognitions:
- Lic. Berta Alicia Ortega in “Best Professional Quality Department Committed to Continuous Improvement”;
- Ing. Jose Ramón Icaza in “Management Commitment to Excellence”; and
- Mar Azul Projects in “Recognition of Business Quality”.
Award to ISO 9001 certified companies in 2016, obtaining the following recognitions:
- Mar Azul Projects in “Recognition of Business Quality”; and
- Proyectos Mar Azul, awarded as Winners in “Best Quality Management System-IGC 2016”.
These nominations have filled us with pride and sustained desire to maintain the highest quality standards, which is why we have continued to create improvements and contributions over time, such as having achieved 98% documentary digitization, always considering that documents that require a physical signature for legal reasons must continue to be printed. Similarly, we have implemented new technological tools to the different processes, such as ISO Tools, Procore, SahrePoint, One Drive, among others. With these implementations we not only increase our quality levels, but we also reduce the use of paper, part of our business contribution to the environment and thus provide an example, both to our collaborators and to other companies, so that they join this effort.
Our Quality Management System has led us to be part of what is Mar Azul Projects today and is a task that we will continue to carry out, always in search of continuous improvement.
