Let’s learn a little about Julio Hurtado, an Electromechanical Manager who has been working at Mar Azul since 2010. Julio completed his engineering studies at the Technological University of Panama and his first work experiences were in the area of maintenance of air conditioning systems, a subject in which he is considered a complete specialist.
Outside of work, what do you like to do most in your spare time?
«What I enjoy the most is doing family activities and interacting with nature». In addition to enjoying outdoor activities, Julio tells us that, if he needed to choose a preferred sport, it would be baseball and tells us that when he was young it was an activity that he practiced constantly, which is why it became his favorite. He also appreciates the cinematic arts and his favorite genre is science fiction.
About Mar Azul
In your career as an electromechanical engineer at Mar Azul, what has been the biggest challenge you have faced?
«My biggest challenge has always been to maintain and increase my knowledge with each new project. My first challenge at Mar Azul was in the Hotel Bristol project, my first hotel project within the company, since I had great expectations and it turned out to be very exciting, really a school», Julio tells us.
Experiences
With all his years of experience in the construction sector, we asked Julio to share a lesson with us:
«Construction teaches you a lot, it is a very difficult area, but you learn daily and it has helped me in my professional and personal growth, mainly because you learn from thousands of different personalities with whom you have to work, which becomes a strength when dealing with staff.»
As a good engineer, Julio appreciates the benefits that technology brings to the construction sector: «technology in construction is important, even more so today since performance is vital and it is essential to measure the productivity of each activity carried out in the projects.»
An experience or anecdote from your years working with Mar Azul?
«There are so many that I wouldn’t want to leave one out, but the best are always the ones we experience in each project closure when the fruit of the effort is seen».
For Julio, these are five keys that he considers important to achieve any goal:
→ Be flexible;
→ Listen to all parts;
→ The support of technology;
→ Communication; and
→ Have goals.
