For seven years now, Johany Céspedes has worked in Proyectos Mar Azul and currently serves as Manager of Organizational Development. Outside of her professional life, she defines herself as a resilient, sociable and familiar person. In her spare time, she likes to run, spend quality time with her family and take care of her plants.
About Mar Azul
Johany, what has been the biggest challenge you have faced in Proyectos Mar Azul?
I had never worked with ISO 9001 so, arriving in Mar Azul and structuring this process, monitoring it, evaluating the risks and also having the opportunity to improve it, was definitely a challenge since it was not my way of working until then, but, in the end, it is a tool that makes our work day easier.
What do you consider are the three main strengths of our human talent in Proyectos Mar Azul?
Mar Azul employees are professionals in every sense of the word. If I must summarize its strengths in three, I would say that they are these:
→ Sense of belonging,
→ Sense of commitment, and
→ Fellowship.
Within six months of belonging to Proyectos Mar Azul, she was awarded the Best Collaborator of the Year recognition. For Johany it was one of the best memories since it definitely marked a before and after in her career.
What do you remember from that experience?
I understood that a company that gives genuine importance to employees, understands the key role they play in carrying out those essential tasks to achieve success.
What advice would you share with us?
When I was just a little girl, they called me for a job interview, completely away from what I had studied. I didn’t want to go, and my mom told me: “Never miss an opportunity. That can be the door to many more opportunities, until you get to where you want to be”. And that opportunity opened the door to Human Resources for me.
Johany, as Manager of Organizational Development, what do you consider to be the five keys to reaching a balance between work and family?
I don’t know if they will be the key for everyone, but communication, the organization of my time, respect for others, having learned to say NO and love have worked for me.
