Irene Brostella is the Commercial Manager of Mar Azul Projects. Outside of her professional life, she defines herself as cheerful, restless and adventurous. In her spare time, she likes to run, exercise outdoors, play and walk with her daughter and her dog, and cook with her husband.
How are the mornings for Irene? She tells us: “My favorites! The first thing I do is spend time with my daughter.”
About her studies and preparation, she tells us “I studied Industrial Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Later I was certified as Project Management Professional, by PMI. Since the beginning of my professional career I have been involved in the world of Project Management, which I am passionate about. I have had the opportunity to gain experience on the side of the promoter and now as the Project Manager”.
About Mar Azul
In the workplace, what has been the biggest challenge you have faced?
“I have had more than one occasion to structure a new job position, which has meant great challenges, but at the same time a great opportunity to create something from the beginning, structure and organize my responsibilities according to the needs of the company and to be able to visualize the position from a strategic perspective to set clear objectives”.
Within her management as Commercial Manager, an achievement that makes her feel proud is that she had not had the opportunity to manage and lead the re-branding process of a company: define, analyze its brand and communication purposes, “I have certainly loved the process. Creating the new image of the brand fills me with pride and I have learned a lot along the way.”
Experiences
An anecdote of Proyectos Mar Azul that I always remember:
“I always remember going to projects with Ing. José Ramón. I used to spend the whole day on inspection and only ate almonds for lunch. After a couple of inspections I learned to bring my lunch (hahaha) I need my food”.
What advice do you share with us?
As Commercial Manager, Irene shares five keys that she considers valuable to achieve any objective:
- Understand why it is important to achieve your goal, otherwise you can lose focus;
- Draw up a clear and concrete strategy or plan;
- Have flexibility. There are always situations that alter our plans, as we have all experienced before this pandemic, for example;
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Union make force; and
- Celebrate small achievements.
