In Mar Azul Projects we have expert collaborators in various areas in order to always provide our clients with the best solutions. A department of great importance within our management is the Inspection of Electromechanical Systems, which is why we will share a little about its function and degree of experience in this delicate and important service.
Electromechanical systems make up the electrical and mechanical infrastructure of a building; for example, refrigeration equipment, pumps and elevators, among others. For us, the main function of conducting inspections of electromechanical systems is to comply with the national and international standards of each system plus the requirements of drawings and, of course, to meet the expectations of our customers. Even prior to project execution, we support our clients to validate specifications and carry out value engineering exercises, since their design criteria can have significant repercussions on project budgets.
Electromechanical systems are a fundamental part of the construction of a building, and challenges are experienced on a daily basis. One of these challenges has been to work in buildings already in the construction phase, with defined completion date schedules where the electromechanical systems are behind schedule and with incomplete information; both the plans and the equipment. In these projects where there was no qualified personnel to see all the electromechanical systems from the beginning, the coordination between systems, the necessary adjustments that are needed to comply with safety regulations, are left aside, which results in elevated project completion cost rates for repairs or works that have to be carried out on more than one occasion due to collisions between systems or failure to obtain permits from the relevant entities. In the past, situations like these have been resolved thanks to the experience of our team, as well as leaving everything documented through our Procore platform, seeking daily follow-up, being aware of every detail of the activities and, not least, giving all the necessary push to meet the project’s projections.
Therefore, we can see the importance of having the involvement of our Electromechanical Engineering department from the early phases and design development of projects, in order to avoid clashes between systems, inconsistencies in specifications and thus avoid cost overruns. and arrears to our clients.
It is important to mention that the great versatility of services offered by Mar Azul Projects with projects from different fields has allowed our Electromechanical team get vast experience. We can proudly say that we have experience in electromechanical systems from the development and design of plans, inspection of hotel, residential, commercial projects, office remodeling systems, project completion, technical inspections of shopping malls, technical inspections of apartments, supervision of auto workshop facilities and the experience of inspection of projects with renewable energies. Experiences that guarantee a team with the best knowledge for all types of projects.
A recent project that required great attention regarding its electromechanical systems was the project of the Ricardo Pérez branch in Costa Verde. In this project, the balance between the finishes of an imposing sales room and the technical and functional spaces of an automotive workshop was carried out. Compared to our previous experiences with electromechanical systems in residential and commercial buildings executed by Mar Azul Projects, this unique project achieved the installation of workshop equipment, car lifts, compressors, automated oil lubrication system installations and compressed air systems.
Having already told you a little about the various situations that we have experienced, we can say that involving an electromechanical team at the beginning of a project, from the development stage of plans and budgets, is vital, it provides value to the project in all subsequent stages with cost savings and the anticipation of possible complications throughout the execution of the project.
For this reason, we can recommend that when starting a project it is essential to always keep in mind the importance of electromechanical systems in projects, to update the plans and information of these systems, to document all the changes that may occur. due to different factors and, very importantly, to respect the safety and installation regulations of all electromechanical systems.
